We said Good bye to our 6th class students this year. We had a lovely last week celebrating them as students and their time here in Rehins. This video is a lovely collections of memories!

Our Walking Club meets twice a week and encourages pupils to stay active while enjoying the outdoors. The club promotes health, fitness and wellbeing and provides a valuable alternative for children who do not take part in football games during break times. The excitement was building in our school this week as our school darts tournament reached its’ final stages! Over 64 pupils and teachers have taken part in the competition over the past number of weeks, showcasing fantastic skill and sportsmanship. Aoife Keane visited from Boston Scientific @bostonsci and facilitating a day with our 5th and 6th classes last week. They got to learn all about Boston Scientific, jobs in the facility and explore their medical equipment. A great opportunity to promote stem in our school.

During the hot few days we had a lovely time following directions and recipes and making smoothies. We harvested some of the strawberries from our Polytunnel and added some bananas and ice cream! Everyone gave them 10/10

6th class enjoyed researching Irish history from topics such as the Fenians right through to the end of the Civil War and a new Irish Government. This coincided with their recent trip to the GPO.

6th Class and some of our staff were welcomed into Leinster House by Dara Calleary TD. Their original tour date was postponed at the very last minute in December and they were so thrilled to get the chance to make the journey and tour Leinster House keeping alive a tradition of visiting Dara there every year since he was elected to Dàil Èireann in 2007!

Our Cash 4 Clothes collection was a success and was taken away to be sorted and weighed! We will hear back from the company in 2 weeks with the amount we raised! We were very fortunate to have Carol Commons visit our school recently. She spoke to our 4th,5th and 6th class students. Our 5th and 6th classes had an amazing day visiting the Mick’s Garage warehouse, discovering how car parts are stored, picked and shipped all around the world. The Sleepy Scholar and I had a really great time with the students and teachers of Rehins National School this week, talking folklore, local legends and, of course, our own St Patrick, his many tales and travels! 6th class have been busy learning about World War 2. They researched topics of interest to them and presented their projects to their classmates via Google Slides. Artwork included the creation of scenes from The Blitz and construction has begun of World War 2 dioramas, fighter aircraft, U- Boats and many more. We held a lovely Carol Service on Thursday 18th. The 1st class to 6th class students performed lovely songs and performances based around the Nativity Story. An early start at 6am to make it to the Gaiety Panto for Beauty and the Beast at 10.30am… and it was worth every yawn!
