What a Super Year for Our Boys Team

The boys’ Cumann na mBunscol Gaelic team have done themselves, their families and the school community extremely proud this year with a fantastic competition, full of teamwork and resilience.

From the beginning, the boys trained hard and never gave up. Their commitment and attitude throughout the campaign was outstanding and it was clear to how proud they were representing their school.

The team made history this year by becoming the first ever Rehins boys’ team to reach a county final — a massive achievement for the school and one that every boy involved should be incredibly proud of.

Our first game did not start easily, as the boys faced a very tough opening game against Charlestown. Although the result did not go our way, the team showed great character and resilience to bounce back strongly with excellent victories over Foxford NS and Breaffy NS in the group stages, to put us into a county semi-final.

Their performances continued to improve and the boys produced a massive display in the county semi-final against a very strong Crossmolina side.

In the county final, we came up against an excellent Castlebar NS team who played some superb Gaelic football. Despite this, our boys battled right to the very end and showed a never give up attitude throughout the game. Mr Treacy and Mr Kenny were extremely proud of the performance, effort and resilience shown by the boys.

While the final did not go our way, the boys can hold their heads high knowing they have made history for the school and set a brilliant example for those coming behind them. It is now over to next year’s 6th, 5th and 4th class boys to continue the great work and strive to go one better next year!
