Our Autism Class were planting trees this week. Tree Planting is hard work!

Senior Infants were learning and practising the locomotor skill of running this week in our P.E./Wellbeing lesson. We also coloured in a picture showing us the correct running technique. It showed us how to use our eyes, elbows, arms, chest, feet, heels and knees to help us to remember to use the correct running technique.

Sixth Class have been hard at work since returning to school.

Senior Infants have been learning about the topic of Creation in our Religion lessons using our Grow In Love curriculum. Our lessons included new beginnings, God is with us everywhere we go, God created our world, and how we can care for the world. We also listened to the story of 'David loved God's World'. We created artwork to link in with our Religion topic of creation and displayed it in our classroom.

We were delighted to welcome a very special visitor to our school, he hasn't been seen in Mayo for 75 years....the one and only Sam Maguire! He got a great welcome to Rehins. We said Good bye to our 6th class students this year. We had a lovely last week celebrating them as students and their time here in Rehins. This video is a lovely collections of memories!

Our Green Schools Committee is helping our school to recycle and raise money at the same time! We are collecting empty, undamaged bottles and cans and returning them to local vending machines through the Deposit Return Scheme. The money we receive from the deposits is used to support school activities and environmental projects. Thank you to all of the pupils and parents for their continued support of this initiative. So far, we have raised over 700 euro. We have lots of pics

Our Walking Club meets twice a week and encourages pupils to stay active while enjoying the outdoors. The club promotes health, fitness and wellbeing and provides a valuable alternative for children who do not take part in football games during break times. Huge Congratulations to our Boys Soccer Team who returned to the school this afternoon winning the Kenny Cup Shield! We were very proud to hear of their achievements. Ms.Foley’s, Ms.Gallagher’s and Mrs.Gavin’s room enjoyed their school tour out in Mayo Leisure Point. They had a lovely time all together in Nokey’s soft play area and then spent time in the bowling. Junior and Senior Infants had a great day on the school tour in Belleek Woods with @tonnta_adventure. They did den building, rope walking, rope ladders, hammocks, stone painting and toasted marshmallows over a camp fire. The rainy weather did not dampen the spirits and they had such an enjoyable day. The excitement was building in our school this week as our school darts tournament reached its’ final stages! Over 64 pupils and teachers have taken part in the competition over the past number of weeks, showcasing fantastic skill and sportsmanship. Thank you to Johnathan Martin (Ellie’s dad) and his Colleagues from @rivermoysearchandrescue who visited our school last week and talked to the school about the important work they do each day. They showed the students their equipment and gear they use and spoke about what each piece was used for. The boys’ Cumann na mBunscol Gaelic team have done themselves, their families and the school community extremely proud this year with a fantastic competition, full of teamwork and resilience. Aoife Keane visited from Boston Scientific @bostonsci and facilitating a day with our 5th and 6th classes last week. They got to learn all about Boston Scientific, jobs in the facility and explore their medical equipment. A great opportunity to promote stem in our school.

During the hot few days we had a lovely time following directions and recipes and making smoothies. We harvested some of the strawberries from our Polytunnel and added some bananas and ice cream! Everyone gave them 10/10

6th class enjoyed researching Irish history from topics such as the Fenians right through to the end of the Civil War and a new Irish Government. This coincided with their recent trip to the GPO.
