Student Council Elections 2025/2026

Democracy in action at St. Joseph’s School, Rehins!

Our Student Council elections took place recently, following weeks of enthusiastic preparation by pupils from 3rd to 6th Class. The children worked hard to develop their manifestos, share their ideas and canvass for support among their peers.

The election process provided a wonderful opportunity for pupils to experience democracy first-hand, learning about the importance of voting, freedom of choice, active citizenship and having a voice in their school community.

We were especially delighted to welcome Senator Mark Duffy, who kindly took time out of his busy schedule to visit our school and witness the elections in action. It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to meet, speak with and learn from a local representative and role model. We sincerely thank Senator Duffy for his time, encouragement and interest in our pupils.

Following the counting and verification of votes, we are delighted to announce that our Student Council for the 2025/2026 school year has been officially elected!

Congratulations to all our newly elected representatives, and a huge well done to every pupil who put themselves forward. We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, confidence and respect shown by everyone throughout the election process.

We look forward to seeing our new Student Council make a positive contribution to school life in the year ahead!
